Purple Onion Designs: Sunshine Lake - Embossed Background
/I have a back log of cards that I’ve made over the past month, that I just haven’t had a chance to post. So hopefully I can get them all posted over the next few weeks.
These cards are from Purple Onion Designs and Stacey Yacula’s latest release Sunshine Lake that came out in May. When I first got them I couldn’t wait to colour them in. However at the time I didn’t have time to colour in a full background so I choose a technique that I’ve used in the past stamping backgrounds in silver pearl embossing powder. Funny I did that technique last with Purple Onion Go to the Fair collection of stamps.
So to highlight the coloured images and create a fairly quick background, I pulled out silver pearl embossing powder. It gives such a pretty shimmer to these backgrounds. The great thing about the pearl embossing is it takes on the tone of the colour that it is embossed over.
Get the look:
Pick out some nice bright card stock.
Stamp and emboss background stamp with silver pearl embossing powder. Heat set.
Die cut the embossed background with a frame die. Die cut a second time out of white card for the frame. (I used Avery Elle Postage Stamp, which appears to be discontinued).
Stamp and colour the silver lake characters. Stamp sentiment. Fussy cut them all out.
On an A2 card base position and glue your background and frame.
Pop up characters on some foam tape and position them where you like in the scene.
